Zwischen zwei Welten Kinder von »Gastarbeitern« und die Verarbeitung von traumatischen Migrationserfahrungen

Zusammenfassung:

Wie werden Kinder von Gastarbeitern mit den extremen Belastungen, denen sie ausgesetzt sind, fertig, insbesondere wenn die Eltern bereits vor der Migration pathogene Strukturen in ihrer Persönlichkeit aufweisen und die Migration gegebenenfalls damit in Zusammenhang steht? Im hier ausführlich dargestellten Fallbericht wird gezeigt, dass die Eltern aufgrund der eigenen Pathologie und der durch die Migration entstandenen Desorganisation und Verwirrung in ihrer Schutz- und Haltefunktion versagt hatten. Deswegen konnte der Patient diese Schutzfunktion nicht introjizieren und von daher keinen Schutzraum entwickeln. Diese Defizite zusammen mit dem unbewältigten Migrationstrauma führten dazu, dass die Entfaltung von Entwicklungsschritten bei diesem Patienten erschwert wurde insofern, als jeder Entwicklungsschritt begleitet war von katastrophenähnlichen Ängsten und Rückschritten. Es wird der Frage nachgegangen, ob diese Rückschritte, die zunächst wie eine negative therapeutische Reaktion aussehen, tatsächlich dieser zuzuordnen sind. Es zeigte sich nämlich, dass der Patient diese scheinbaren Rückschritte auch im Sinne einer Vergewisserung brauchte: auf jeden Schritt in die neue idealisierte und ersehnte Welt musste ein »(Zu)Rück«-Schritt folgen in die alte, zwar enge, aber heimatliche Welt der Eltern.

Summary:

Between two worlds: The children of »migrant workers«. Coming to terms with traumatic migration experiences. – How do the children of migrant workers deal with the extreme mental stress they are exposed to, particularly if their parents displayed pathogenic personality structures prior to migration and migration itself stood in some causal connection with such disorders? The in-depth case history discussed here is one in which the pathological features of the parents and the disorientation and confusion caused by migration made them unable to fulfill a protective and sustaining function for their child. Accordingly, that child (the patient) was unable to introject this protective function and develop a protective space. Together with the inability to cope with the migration trauma itself, these deficits made it difficult for the patient to negotiate the various stages of development: each of them was accompanied by disastrous anxieties and setbacks. Although these setbacks initially resembled a negative therapeutic reaction, the author doubts that they were in fact manifestations of such a reaction. It transpired that the patient needed these apparent setbacks as a kind of safety net. Every step toward the new, idealized, and desired world had to be followed by a step »back« into the old, restrictive, but reassuringly familiar world of the parents.

Entre deux mondes. Les enfants de travailleurs immigrés et l’élaboration des expériences traumatiques de migration. – Comment les enfants de travailleurs immigrés viennent-ils à bout du stress extrême auquel ils sont exposés, en particulier quand les parents manifestent déjà avant la migration des structures pathogènes de leur personnalité et quand la migration y est, le cas échéant, liée? Dans l’étude de cas, ici présentée de manière détaillée, l’auteur montre que les parents avaient échoué dans leur fonction de protection et de containement en raison de leur propre pathologie et de la désorganisation et du trouble, nés de la migration. C’est pourquoi le patient ici présenté n’a pas pu introjecter cette fonction de protection et donc n’a pas pu développer un espace de protection. Ces déficiences, combinées avec le trauma de la migration dont il n’est pas venu à bout, font que chez ce patient, le déploiement des phases du développement a été rendu plus difficile dans la mesure où chaque phase du développement s’est accompagnée d’angoisses quasiment catastrophiques et de régressions. L’auteur traite la question de savoir si ces régressions, qui apparaissent d’abord comme une réaction thérapeutique négative, constituent réellement une réaction de ce type. En effet, il s’est avéré que le patient avait aussi besoin de ces apparentes régressions dans le sens d’une assurance: chaque pas vers le nouveau monde idéalisé et désiré devait être suivi d’un pas en arrière dans le vieux monde des parents, certes étroit mais rappelant le pays d’origine.
