»Herzasthma« – Exil und Objektverlust

Zusammenfassung:

Die Arbeit geht der Frage nach, wie Exil und Migration in den normalen Prozeß der inneren Umgestaltung früher Objektbeziehungen eingreifen und welche besondere affektive Färbung sie den unvermeidlichen Verlusten des Lebens geben. Um zu klären, worin der psychische Verlust durch das »Herzasthma des Exils« (T. Mann) besteht, wird die Beziehung zum inneren Objekt »Heimat« mit Beispielen aus Literatur, klinischer Praxis und persönlicher Erfahrung erkundet. Ausgehend von Winnicotts Konzepten der Umweltmutter und der Übergangsobjekte wird diese Beziehung im »Übergangsraum« angesiedelt. In diesem intermediären Raum wird das kulturelle Erleben von der Erfahrung der ursprünglichen Einheit mit dem Primärobjekt getragen. Die Realität wird in diesem Raum nicht als ein starres Außen erlebt, sondern im frühen Besetzungsvorgang »erschaffen«. Auf ähnliche Weise erfolgt der Erwerb der Muttersprache, die aufgrund ihrer Verankerung in frühen Interaktionserfahrungen als Container für affektives Erleben fungieren kann. Durch Exil und Migration wird diese tragende Schicht des Erlebens brüchig und die innere Kontinuität fragmentiert. Ein Ankommen im neuen Land ist nur als kreativer Akt der Neuerschaffung von Übergangsräumen und nicht als Anpassung an eine als starr wahrgenommene Realität möglich.

»Cardiasthma«: Exile and object loss. – The article inquires into the effects of how exile and migration on normal inner conversion of early object relations and investigates the specific affective tinges they can give to the inevitable losses encountered in life. To establish the kind of psychic loss occasioned by what Thomas Mann called the »cardiasthma of exile«, the article explores the relation to the inner object Heimat (home/home country) with reference to examples from literature, clinical practice, and personal experience. Proceeding from Winnicott’s concepts of the »environmental mother« and »transitional objects,« the author locates this relation in a »transitional space.« In this intermediary space, cultural experience is sustained by the experience of original unity with the primary object. Here reality is not experienced as something rigidly external but is »created« in the early cathectic process. The acquisition of the mother tongue takes a similar course. Being anchored in early experiences of interaction, it can function as a container for affective experience. Exile and migration erode this sustaining stratum, thus interfering with internal continuity. True arrival in a new country is only possible as a creative act, the creation of new transitional spaces, and not by adjusting to a reality perceived as rigid.

»Asthme au cœur« – exil et perte d’objet. – L’article poursuit la question de savoir comment l’exil et la migration interviennent dans le processus normal de la réorganisation intérieure des relations d’objets précoces, et quelle coloration affective particulière ils donnent aux pertes inéluctables au cours de la vie. Pour tirer au clair en quoi consiste la perte psychique exprimée par »l’asthme au cœur provoqué par l’exil« (Th. Mann), l’auteur explore la relation à l’objet intérieur »pays natal« (Heimat) à l’aide d’exemples?empruntés à la littérature, à la pratique clinique et à son expérience personnelle. En partant des concepts de mère-environnement et d’objet transitionnel, développés par Winnicott, cette relation est placée dans un »espace transitionnel«. Dans cet espace intermédiaire, le vécu culturel est porté par des expériences d’unité originaire avec l’objet primaire. Dans cet espace, la réalité n’est pas vécue comme un extérieur rigide, mais elle est créée par le processus d’investissement précoce. De manière similaire s’opère l’acquisition de la langue maternelle qui, en raison de son enracinement dans les expériences d’interaction précoces, peut remplir la fonction de container pour le vécu affectif. L’exil et la migration fragilisent cette couche porteuse du vécu et fragmentent la continuité intérieure. L’arrivée dans un nouveau pays n’est possible que comme acte créatif de recréation des espaces transitionnels et non comme adaptation à une réalité perçue comme rigide.
