Marius Neukoms Arbeit basiert auf einem ungewöhnlichen Versuch, die Wirkung eines literarischen Textes psychoanalytisch zu erforschen. Ein einzelner Mikrogrammtext von Robert Walser wurde einigen LeserInnen vorgelegt und diese nach ihren spontanen Reaktionen auf die Lektüre befragt. Der Rahmen einer halbstrukturierten, konfrontierenden Interviewsituation provozierte sehr persönliche Reaktionen auf den Text, die daraufhin untersucht wurden, inwiefern sie als gegenübertragungsähnliche Muster Aufschluß über die Dimension des Unbewußten im Prozeß der Rezeption geben und solcherart in den Dienst der Erforschung des Textes gestellt werden können. Mit Hilfe der Ergebnisse aus einer literaturwissenschaftlich orientierten, strukturellen Erzähltextanalyse gelang es, emotional bedeutsame Themenkomplexe und Rezeptionsmuster freizulegen sowie versteckte, an den Leser gerichtete Rollenangebote herauszuarbeiten.

Marius Neukom’s article is based on an unusual attempt to investigate the impact of a literary text in psychoanalytic terms. One single Micrograph text by Swiss author Robert Walser was given to a variety of readers, who were subsequently asked about their spontaneous response to it. In the framework of a semi-structured confronting interview situation, very personal responses to the text were provoked. These were then examined for the extent to which, as countertransference patterns, they provide insight into the dimension of the unconscious in the process of reception and can accordingly be placed at the service of an investigation of the text’s \meaning. With the aid of findings drawn from a structural narrative analysis based on a literary criticism approach, it was possible to elicit both emotionally significant \theme complexes and reception patterns and also to reveal covert role-assumption offers made to the reader by the text.

Le travail de Marius Neukom est basé sur l’originale tentative d’étudier l’effet d’un texte littéraire sur le plan psychanalytique. On a présenté le texte d’un seul microgramme de Robert Walser à un certain nombre de lecteurs qui ont été ensuite interrogés sur leurs réactions spontanées à cette lecture. Dans le cadre d’une situation d’entretien semi-structuré conduit sur le mode de la confrontation, des réactions très personnelles à ce texte ont été provoquées. Elles ont été par la suite analysées afin de savoir dans quelle mesure elles peuvent nous renseigner, en tant que modèle analogue au contre-transfert, sur la dimension de l’inconscient pendant le processus de la réception, ce qui permettrait alors de les mettre au service de l’étude du texte. A l’aide des résultats d’une analyse structurelle d’un texte narratif, telle que celle-ci est réalisée par la théorie littéraire, l’auteur a réussi à dégager des complexes thématiques et des modèles de réceptions, importants sur le plan émotionnel, ainsi qu’à découvrir des propositions de rôles, adressées au lecteur.

Mitglieder der Mittwoch-Gesellschaft schenkten Sigmund Freud zu seinem 50. Geburtstag eine Medaille. Eine anläßlich der Medaillenübergabe aufgetretene Gefühlsanwandlung Freuds findet in der Literatur eine Deutung als Ausdruck positiver Gefühle. Eine auf der Medaille zu findende, bisher nicht beachtete Fehlleistung ist Ausgangspunkt zu kulturpsychoanalytischen Überlegungen. Diese führen vor dem Hintergrund von Freuds kulturtheoretischem Konzept des Schuldgefühls zu einer erweiterten Interpretation der Dynamik bei der Geburtstagsfeier. Dabei treten auch latent aggressive Anteile unter den Mitgliedern der Mittwoch-Gesellschaft zutage.

And Freud turned pale ... Culture-psychoanalytic thoughts on a birthday present
On Freud’s 50th birthday, members of the Wednesday Society presented him with a medal. The sudden upsurge of feeling experienced by Freud at the presentation of the medal has been interpreted in the literature as the expression of positive emotions. A hitherto neglected instance of parapraxis on the medal is taken as a foundation for culture-psychoanalytic considerations. Against the background of Freud’s culture-theoretical concept of guilt feelings, this leads to a broader \interpretation of the dynamics involved in the birthday celebration. Latent \aggressive tendencies among the members of the Wednesday Society also stand revealed.

Et Freud pâlit ... Réflexions de psychanalyse de la culture sur un cadeau d’anniversaire
Les membres de la société du mercredi ont offert une médaille à Freud pour son 50ème anniversaire. Le débordement de sentiments, que la remise de cette médaille suscita chez Freud, est interprétée dans la littérature comme l’expression de sentiments positifs. Un acte manqué, représenté sur la médaille et jusque-là passé inaperçu, constitue le point de départ des réflexions de psychanalyse culturelle de l’étude. Sous-tendues par le concept du sentiment de culpabilité dans la théorie de la culture, et créé par Freud, ces réflexions conduisent à une interprétation élargie de la dynamique à l’oeuvre au moment de la fête d’anniversaire. Elles révèlent également des éléments agressifs latents chez les membres de la société du mercredi.
